To evaluate the resistance during operating conditions, it is often necessary to evaluate the dynamic conditions of a mechanical part.
The first step consists in defining the operating and design conditions. Then it is possible to build the Finite Element Model to simulate the real conditions. This stage requires the greatest amount of attention and experience because every idealization can decrease the calculation time, but at the same time it must be appropriately placed in order to simulate the real behavior of the element.
For a lever as in the image above, the biggest customer concern was about shock force due to impact. Thus it was performed the following checks:
- Static Constrained linear FEM Analysis
- Dynamic FEM Analysis to identify the natural vibrational modes
- Constrained Reduction of natural vibrational modes
- Identify the spectral activation modes under the design shock load
- Safety boundary of the proposed design
The customer was involved in a design process to identify the best material choice for the element, thus the EIDOMETA strategy to help the customer needs included, at the end of this analysis, the creation of a elementar tool to help the designer in this process.
